Julie Parker
Julie Parker is originally from Savannah, Georgia.  She has BA in Psychology and Sociology from Limestone College in South Carolina, and is a recent graduate of Animal Behavior College.

Most of her experience was spent teaching and training severely and profoundly handicapped children and adults using Behavior Modification - a training technique that emphasizes using positive reinforcement to change or improve behaviors.  She received a Certificate of Award for distinguished achievement in following Behavior Modification procedures.

From 2000 to 2003 Julie was the St. Johns County Coordinator for the Northeast Florida Group of the Sierra Club, the oldest environmental organization in the country.  During that time she received two awards for her outstanding achievement and advocacy concerning the environment and an award from Enterprising Women of Florida for Women in Leadership.

Julie has fostered many dogs and cats for SAFE Rescue in St. Johns County.  She has also volunteered at St. Johns County Animal Control in St. Johns County and at Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, a no kill shelter in Manistee, Michigan, where she is currently a member. In 2008 she received an award from Homeward Bound Animal Shelter for being a Top Financial Fundraiser.

After adopting Chancellor 4 years ago from a rescue in Jacksonville she found that he had no social skills.  That’s when she decided to start Be A Pack Leader Dog Walking Club. This is a free dog-walking club that allows dogs to socialize, get exercise and learn to be around a pack of dogs without over-reacting.

In September 2010 Julie graduated from Animal Behavior College as a certified dog trainer.

Julie grew up with dogs and most of the time had a faithful companion by her side.  Her first dog was a German Sheppard and the rest have all been herding dogs.  Her first sheltie Bailey was a Certified Companion Dog and competed in many obedience trails around the state of Florida winning first place in a competition in Orlando. In July 2010 her rescue dog Lexie received a Canine Good Citizen Certification.  Julie is happy to share her home with two rescue dogs Chancellor and Lexie, one cranky old cat, Callie, and her husband, Gary.
